What is a totem in Fisch?
A one-use consumable item that forces a weather change or triggers a localised event server-wide. Owned totems sit in your backpack or Personal Aquarium storage. Using one consumes it permanently.
You cannot use a totem if the weather or event it would trigger is already active. And totems are not tradeable — once bought, used, or gifted, they're yours to spend.

Time-Cycle Totem
The Sundial Totem is the single most useful early totem. It flips the server between day and night on demand — invaluable when you're hunting a fish that's locked to one phase of the cycle.
Buy one from Sunstone Cave for 2,000 C$ (or 1,600 C$ in your Personal Aquarium's Daily Shop). Keep at least three in your bag: one to push into night, one to pull back to day, and one spare in case a totem fails to fire.

Shiny + Sparkling will not stack — the game blocks the second if the first is active. Mutation Surge and Sparkling also conflict. Plan your session: pick one path per fishing run.
Hunt Totems
2,500,000 C$ each. Save these for when you have the right rod.
Each totem summons a server-wide boss-hunt event for the named creature. These totems only work if your fishing rod is strong enough to actually land the boss — check the Boss Hunt Guide before spending the C$.

When to Use Which Totem
Are you trying to catch a specific apex-tier fish? Match the fish's required weather, time, and bait, then use the matching totem. Are you grinding C$? Skip totems entirely — your time is more valuable than the weather bonus. Are you levelling? A single Mutation Totem during a Mythic Catch run is the highest-XP-per-minute path.
The expensive totems (Aurora, Shiny, Hunt) only make sense once you have a top-tier rod and the bait stack ready. The cheap weather totems (Tempest, Windset, Smokescreen) are the everyday workhorses — buy a stack on every run and rotate them based on the fish you're after.
